TAPAS dinner

We went to a tapas place for dinner after flamenco. With Zach, Toni and Sam is Silvia our tour guide. We had Spanish ham with manchego cheese, spanish omelette, chorizo, calamari and french fries with various dipping sauces.

Day 2 continued

Flamenco performance pictures including Ms Resendiz and Mallory. Group photo in lobby of hotel before leaving for flamenco

After dinner we went to this place that was 114 years old and only serves a thick hot chocolate and churros. They were delicious.

Madrid - Day 1 pictures 2

After dinner we went to two different downtown plazas - the first one is the equivalent of out Times Square - it is here where they gather at New Years to count down to midnight. And they bring 12 grapes and eat them at each strike of 12 on the clock posted to start their year off right. The last picture is Plaza Mejor? - not quote me on the spelling - but the major plaza where they first started bull fighting....but it's a square - so the audience didn't like it when the bulls would go into the corners.....so they made the circular bull fighting rings of today.

Today - Day 2 - touring of the Palace and some other areas of Madrid and group lunch, shopping and then Flamenco - then tapas dinner and then who knows what else.......

Madrid - Day 1

Day 1 - group shot outside the Prado museum. Picture of the restaurant we went to after the museum.

First Day Pictures

Out of order - but group photo - the "pretrip" picture. Upon arriving in Madrid - the bus photo and the last one is a picture from the hotel room. Half of the students have this view overlooking the train station and the other half overlooking the Reina Sophia museum

WE MADE IT :)

We arrived one hour late into Munich and landed just as the connecting flight to Madrid was boarding. We went through passport control and security again and amazingly MADE the flight.
Lufthansa is a great airline - their food was great and the plane had individual TVs at the seats and was spacious.

We arrived in Madrid to find that my and Mike Cornells luggage did not make it :(
BUT they said it would arrive on the next flight from Munich and be delivered to our hotel by 7pm....and it was.

We went to the Prado museum from 6-8pm - went to dinner at a cute Spanish restaurant .... then took a mini walking tour.

Internet access was sketchy - sorry the blog was later than expected. Will post pictures tomorrow and have students blog tomorrow.

Everyone here says hello to everyone at home.
